Meet the Experts: Acute Care Alexandra Zuleger PT, DPT
Alexandra is a rural physical therapist that is stationed in a hospital. She works in acute care, pediatrics, and outpatient settings. She has been working in acute care for 3 years and has been the inpatient coordinator for her facility for 1.5 years. Alexandra is the point communicator for the nursing and therapy team to allow for safe and efficient discharge of patients. She participates in daily meetings to update physicians on patient progress in rehabilitation as well as any concerns that may arise that prevent progress being made.
Vestibular Laura Richardson PT, DPT
Laura is a PT, Clinical Specialist and Reseach Therapist at the Allina Health - Courage Kenny Sport and Physical Therapy. She graduated from the U of M in 2014 with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She has been a Liscensed PT since 2014 and a Geriatric Clinical Specialist since 2018.
Neuro Ryan Bouslog PT, DPT Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy Assistive Technology Professional
Ryan Bouslog is the SCI/D Therapy Program Coordinator in the Spinal Cord Injury & Disorder Clinic at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. He maintains a 0.5 FTE clinical caseload primarily working within outpatient ALS clinic and outpatient wheelchair clinic. He became a board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy in 2019 and was certified as an assistive technology professional in 2020. He is a graduate of The College of St. Scholastica DPT program in Duluth, MN. His clinical experience includes the evaluation and treatment of patients with SCI/D, MS, and ALS in the outpatient setting.
Geriatrics Alana Patrick, PT, DPT Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Geriatric Physical Therapy. Alana graduated from the University of Minnesota with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2017. She has been a physical therapist for 5 years providing rehabilitation services at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. Alana works primarily in acute care, though also serves as the primary outpatient PT for the Minneapolis VA’s Covid Rehab Clinic. She is an active member of the APTA at both the state and national levels including a member of APTA MN geriatric education sub-committee. She lives in Bloomington, MN where she enjoy spending time with her fiancé, family, friends, and staying active with outdoor activities including pond hockey and downhill skiing.
Rural Health Jeffrey Donatelle PT, DPT Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Athletic Trainer, Certified Licensed Athletic Trainer Certification in Dry Needling
Jeffrey has an integrated physical therapy and athletic training background supported by an undergraduate (BA in Athletic Training from Bethel University 2007), doctoral degree (DPT from the University of WI La Crosse 2010), and advanced training and skills in: concussion management, vestibular rehabilitation, orthopedic residency, fellowship training, LSVT, SASTM, and dry needling training. He has experience as primary position as a staff physical therapist and athletic trainer in a diversified outpatient setting with additional experience in long term care, home health, assisted living, and middle school, high school, and college sports medicine.

Dr. Kramer graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and went on to earn a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. In 2009, he graduated from Regis University with his transitional DPT. Dr. Kramer was board certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy in 2008. Most recently he became a Fellow graduating in 2011 from Regis University’s Manual Therapy Fellowship program. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Ortho Eric Stokes PT, DPT Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Eric is a dedicated physical therapist with 7 years of clinical experience at a sports and orthopedic clinic. He completed the Fairview Orthopedic Residency Program and has transitioned into teaching a portion of the residency curriculum while also routinely serving as a clinical instructor for full-time PT students. Eric earned his BAS in Exercise Science from the U of M Duluth in 2012 and went on to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in 2015. Eric is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy, has a Level 1 Certification from the Titleist Performance Institute, is a APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and has been an APTA Orthopedic member since 2013.
Academic Megan Dowdal-Osborn PT, PHD Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy Dr. Megan Dowdal-Osborn joined the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program as a fulltime faculty member of CSP in 2014. She received her BA at Creighton University, Masters in Physical Therapy at St. Catherine University and her PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota. She received her Neurologic Clinical Specialty certification in 2010. Dr. Dowdal-Osborn has over 15 years of teaching in accredited physical therapy programs. She collaboratively teaches in the Clinical Skills and Neuromuscular threads and the Applied Neuroscience course. Her clinical practice is in outpatient vestibular and neurologic physical therapy.
Concussion Katie Malotky PT, DPT
Katie earned her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. She has a special interest in Concussion Treatment and collaborated with Project Brain Safe in central MN on care for concussion, Parkinson's Disease, treatment of headaches, dizziness and balance issues, and pediatrics. Katie became a Board Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist in 2020 and in 2021 received her LSVT Big and Loud Certification.
Administrative Craig Johnson PT, MBA
Craig has been a long-standing leader in the Physical Therapy community and with the MN chapter of APTA, serving as a director, a delegate as well as President, in addition to serving as co-chair of the Payment Committee and leading the Payer Advocacy Workgroup. Craig has served on the Board of Directors with the Private Practice Section (PPS) Board, on the APTA Public Policy and Advocacy Committee (PPAC), and various levels/areas of APTA and currently was just elected to their Board of Directors. He joined Therapy Partners, a management services organization supporting PT-owned practices, in 2008 and became a partner in 2013. As Chief Operating Officer, he directs internal operations and support services to 16 practices and 34 locations in MN and WI.
Primary Care Ashley Cassel DPT, OCS
Ashley Cassel, PT, DPT, OCS is a board certified orthopedic physical therapy specialist with experience practicing in a direct access, primary care physical therapy setting. Ashley graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion Science and a Minor in Psychology in 2005 and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy through the University of Minnesota in 2008. She is a Certified Spinal Manual Therapist through the International Spine and Pain Institute/Evidence in Motion. Ashley co-founded and has served as Chair of the American Physical Therapy Association Federal Primary Care Special Interest Group since 2019. Ashley has worked at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System since 2008 where she has 14 years of clinical experience practicing in an outpatient setting including primary care direct access physical therapy. She served briefly as the Minneapolis VA Health Promotion Disease Prevention Coordinator and has since served as the Assistant Chief of Physical Therapy since March 2020.
Cardio Pulmonary Melissa Ludescher PT, DPT, CCRP
Melissa Ludescher, PT, DPT, CCRP graduated from the University of Minnesota and has been employed by the Minneapolis VA Medical Center since 2014 in outpatient cardiac rehabilitation. She is a Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). She is a member of the both the APTA-Minnesota and Minneapolis VA Rehab and Extended Care’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committees in order to promote these values in our profession and to support the diverse patients that physical therapists serve. She has been a clinical instructor and enjoys sharing her knowledge with PT students, medical students and her colleagues (and of course, patients!).
Lymphedema Lisa Karrow, MPT/CLT-LANA Lisa obtained her Master’s in Physical Therapy from Mayo Health Related Sciences Program and has 29 years of clinical experience. She received her lymphedema certification through the Lerner Lymphedema Services Academy of Lymphatic Studies in 1997 and became nationally certified in 2001 through the Lymphology Association of North America. She has furthered her education in cancer rehabilitation and serves as a Clinical Specialist in Cancer Rehabilitation and Lymphedema. She is also Parkinson’s LSVT BIG certified and enjoys working with patients with various neurological impairments. She has served as a clinical guest lecturer for St. Catherine’s University and the University of Minnesota Physical Therapy programs. She has presented continuing education courses and has participated in the development of Edema and Cancer Rehab Best Practice for Fairview System clinicians. She also assists with the Women’s Health Physical Therapy Residency program serving as a faculty member. Pelvic Health Beth Stegora PT, DPT
Dr. Beth Stegora graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and minor in Sports Medicine and Pre-Physical Therapy. She completed her doctorate training at the University of Southern California before returning back to Minnesota. She began working at Hennepin Healthcare 13 years ago in their outpatient department. Over the last decade, she has had extensive training in pelvic health PT education including completing the APTA Certification of Achievement in Obstetric Physical Therapy, making her one of 6 PTs in MN to complete this certification. Over the last decade, she has enjoyed being actively involved with the APTA MN including chairing the Membership Committee. Her professional focus recently has been working with her pelvic health PT team to expand their services to populations less served to help improve their quality of life with pelvic health issues. This has included collaboration with her hospital’s perinatal partial hospitalization program to educate parents in the perinatal period about pelvic health Physical Therapy. JW Matheson, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, is a 1996 graduate of the Mayo Clinic of Health Sciences and a 2001 graduate of the first public APTA credentialed Sports Physical Therapy residency at Gundersen Sports Medicine in Onalaska, WI. He is a board-certified specialist in both sports and orthopedic physical therapy. J.W. completed his transitional DPT degree from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 2005. He has maintained his certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 2000. Dr. Matheson is a respected author, clinical researcher, and instructor and has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed research articles on specific exercises for the spine, knee, and shoulder. Dr. Matheson is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and serves on several legislative and research committees locally and nationally. J.W. is a strong advocate for science-based medicine and cost-effective solutions to treating common musculoskeletal conditions. He is committed and passionate about helping individuals of all ages return to the sports and recreational activities they love. Residency Luke Wernberg, PT, DPT, OCS Residency Mentor Luke Wernberg, PT, DPT, OCS, received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Minnesota. Prior to his DPT, he earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in exercise and movement science from UW-Madison. He is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist. He has extensive experience working with sports medicine and orthopedic populations, endurance athletes, Crossfit and weightlifting athletes, and additional specialization in the management of chronic pain conditions, headaches and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). He firmly believes in active based approaches to rehabilitation and strives to build a personalized treatment program to improve patient outcomes. Outside of the clinic, Luke is an avid fly fisherman on the trout streams and lakes of the beautiful Driftless region of Wisconsin and Minnesota.
