Before you register, please identify your 2024 legislative district here. Note: your 2024 district may be different that your past district as district maps have recently changed in 2022. For physical therapy students, consider identifying your legislative district in your home town rather than at your temporary address.

Your “How-To” Registration and Scheduling Guide

What is APTA Minnesota Day on the Hill all about?

  ◦ Physical therapy professionals and students from across the state meet with state legislators.

  ◦ We educate on what physical therapists and physical therapist assistants do and how we are trained.

  ◦ We collectively advocate for:
◦ Improved access to physical therapy
◦ Appropriate policy standards written into the law for practicing physical therapy.

Civics Review!

  ◦ We all are represented by a State Senator and State House Representative at the Capitol in St. Paul.

  ◦ Your State Senator and State House Representative live in your district, which is the geographic area from which they are
           elected.

  ◦ They are the voice at the State Capitol legislating on behalf of you and your city or town.

  ◦ Each attendee will meet with both their State Senator and State Representative, schedules permitting, on Day on the Hill.

Getting Prepared

These are the steps you need to take prior to Day on the Hill:

Step 1: Identify Your Legislators

◦ When registering, you will be asked the district where you and your legislators live.

  ◦ Use this link to identify your district: Legislative District

  ◦ STUDENTS, consider meeting with your hometown legislators rather than those who represent your temporary residence.

  ◦ We reach more legislators when students meet with their hometown legislators, further spreading the word about the positive
role physical therapy plays in healthcare.

Step 2: Register

  ◦ Complete your registration through the button above.

  ◦ Please register with an email address you check frequently.

Step 3: Make Your Appointments

Plan to request appointments with your legislators as soon as possible.

Details on how to request appointments, including phone call and email templates, will be provided after you register.

Step 4: Prepare for Your Meetings

A description of talking points for your meetings and a briefing of key issues will be sent out in early February.

Talking points will also be reviewed during the kickoff meeting at 9am on Day on the Hill.
