About This Course

Registrants must provide proof that they have completed KT1-KT2 prior to attending this course if they did not take a KT1-2 course with  MNPTAin the past. Upon completion, attendees will be eligible to take the CKTP exam. 

Course Objectives

  • Review basic principles of kinesiotaping and the corrective techniques
  • Relate how to facilitate or inhibit specific muscles for muscle imbalance at the shoulder girdle and pelvis
  • Expand repertoire of taping for specific conditions
  • Discuss taping strategies for specific conditions

Speaker Biography

Deanna M. Wanzek , PT, PCS, CKTI, CLT  is a graduate from the Mayo Foundation School of Physical Therapy.  She has specialized in pediatrics for the past thirty years utilizing a holistic approach to evaluation and treatment.  She incorporates myofascial release, craniosacral, muscle energy and other complementary skills. She is certified in the use of  Universal Exercise Unit/TheraSuit Method. She teaches in the Pediatrics course at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is recognized by the KinesioTaping Association as a Certified Instructor and was named Instructor of the Year for 2007.  She is also a Certified Lymphatic Therapist. She is an APTA board certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist. DeDe is employed by St Croix Therapy in Hudson, Wisconsin, a non-profit organization serving children.

  • 10:20 - KT3 advance concepts: fascial correction- manual guide
  • 10:30 - Manual fascial glide lab
  • 10:45 - KT3 advanced concepts: Basket Weave Technique
  • 10:55 - Basket Weave lab
  • 11:10 - Intro to Kinesio Scar Tapings
  • 11:25 - Scar management "directional pull application"
  • 11:35 - Scar management- pitting scars application
  • 11:45 - Scar management lab
  • 12:00 - Lunch
  • 1:00 - Clinical concepts and lab, frozen shoulders, rotator cuff muscles
  • 1:30 - Clinical concepts and lab, Hand-DeQuervain's, mallet finger, trigger finger
  • 2:00 - Clinical concepts and lab, hip -piriformis pain, cursitis
  • 2:30 - Break 
  • 3:00 - Clinical concepts and lab, back pain/disk protrusion 
  • 3:30 - Clinical concepts and lab, knee patelllofemoral pain syndrome/ACL
  • 4:00 - Clinical concepts and lab, shin splints/ankle sprain
  • 4:30 - Clinical concepts and lab, sinus pain/ear pain
  • 5:00 - Taping of choice by participants, questions/wrap up
  • 5:30 - Conclude
