Dr. Mooring believes education is key for a healthy and active lifestyle. Please bring $5 for materials. Speaker Biography Dr. Scott Mooring DC, CCSP is the owner and director of Back in Balance Chiropractic & Rehab Clinic in West St. Paul who has been certified in Kinesio Taping for over a decade and has taught many classes. His presentation will focus on the technique, application, and use of the tape. Dr. Mooring believes education is key for a healthy and active lifestyle.
Pediatrics: Children with Developmental Disabilities		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	9:30 AM	11:30 AM	3/7/2015 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Pediatrics: Children with Developmental Disabilities Speaker: David Chapman, PT, Ph.D Course Description This course will be focusing on common developmental disabilities in children, the specific pathology involved as well as evaluation strategies and common intervention techniques. Speaker Biography David Chapman, PT, Ph.D. is an associate professor at St. Catherine University with a focus on pediatrics, neurorehabilitation, and service learning. Prior to coming to St. Kate's he was in full time practice in Bloomington, IN as a pediatric physical therapist and then served as the Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services for Bloomington Hospital. His research centers on how infants with spina bifida learn to move their legs and kick as well as developing effective teaching-learning activities for entry-level professional students as they work to acquire knowledge and develop confidence in their knowledge.
Running Analysis		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	9:30 AM	11:30 AM	3/7/2015 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM Running Analysis Speaker: Benjamin Maschke PT, DPT, OCS Course Description This course will discuss running biomechanics, gait analysis, and treatment of the injured runner. We will talk about how the running gait analysis drives clinical decision making to identify simple and specific interventions for each patient. We will also talk about how to prioritize and identify running modifications that will have the highest value for each patient. Speaker Biography Benjamin Maschke PT, DPT, OCS received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Concordia University of Wisconsin and is now the Lead therapist for TRIA Orthopaedic Center’s Running Program. He is board certified in orthopaedic physical therapy through the American physical therapy association and has earned his Certificate of Advanced Study in Orthopaedics from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions.

Concussion		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	12:30 PM	2:30 PM	3/7/2015 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Concussion Speaker: Barb Young DPT, NCS Course Description This course will define pathophysiology, signs and symptoms of concussion. It will include identification of basic management principles of the concussed adult. The course will also recognize the role of PT, particularly vestibular rehab, in the multidisciplinary management of concussion. Presentation of clinical case studies will be included. Speaker Biography Barb Young DPT, NCS is an out-patient physical therapist at University of MN Health. She has over 20 years of experience. She has specialized in treating patients with neurological and vestibular disorders. She completed vestibular rehab competency testing in 2001, the advanced vestibular competency testing in 2003 and her neurologic clinical.
Manual Therapy/Practice		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	12:30 PM	2:30 PM	3/7/2015 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Manual Therapy/Practice Speakers: Bill Koch PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT and Luke Dueffert PT, DPT Course Description This primarily lab focused session will review thrust/non-thrust and soft tissue/stretching manual therapy related techniques. The discussion will include a brief overview of the related evidence for the techniques as well as other anecdotal thoughts on best use in clinic. Time will be reserved for open forum to review certain techniques requested by those in attendance. Speaker Biographies Bill is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he earned a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. He is Credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy through the McKenzie Institute International, is board certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and completed a transitional DPT and a Manual Physical Therapy Fellowship through Regis University in Denver, CO. He practices for Park Nicollet Clinic in Plymouth. Luke is a 2014 graduate of the Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences program in Physical Therapy. practices at Park Nicollet - Plymouth as an outpatient physical therapist where he is completing Evidence in Motion’s orthopedic physical therapy residency program.
Return to Sport		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	12:30 PM	2:30 PM	3/7/2015 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Return to Sport Speaker: Jaynie Bjornaraa PhD, MPH, PT, SCS, ATC, CSCS Course Description The Return to Sport session will describe fundamental general principles of return to sport regardless of sport or activity. Application of rehabilitation and strength and conditioning will be emphasized. Specific lower extremity and upper extremity sport protocols will also be discussed. Speaker Biography Jaynie has been physical therapist since 1984, specializing in sports and orthopedic injuries (SCS). She is also certified as an athletic trainer (ATC) and has worked extensively with various sports teams, traveling nationally and internationally. She is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and has served on the NSCA Certification Commission, NSCA nominating committee, and on the Board of Directors for the NSCA. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS-Physical Therapy in 1984, from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with an advanced MS-Physical Therapy/Athletic Training in 1991 and from San Diego State University with a Master of Public Health in 1998. She completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota in June 2008. She is currently an associate professor at St. Catherine University in Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

Gigliotti, PT, DPT, MTC Course Description This course is designed to give students all the information they would want to know as a new graduate! Nick and Jennifer will discuss tips on being a new graduate, involvement in the APTA/MNAPTA as well as their personal experiences. Nick will discuss his experiences post-grad after Student Assembly and his role on the MNPTA Board of Directors; and Jennifer will speak about her involvement with the Health Policy and Administration Section's Global Health Special Interest Group. Speaker Biographies Nicholas W. Gigliotti, PT, DPT, MTC is a physical therapist with Big Stone Therapies, Inc., serving as clinic manager for multidisciplinary clinics in Hibbing and Chisholm, Minnesota. As a student, Dr. Gigliotti served as the Vice President of APTA's Student Assembly from 2011-2012. As an Early Career Professional, Dr. Gigliotti has presented at a National Student Conclave and Combined Sections Meeting. Dr. Gigliotti has served as a Delegate for the Minnesota Chapter in APTA's House of Delegates and currently serves as a Director on MNPTA's Board of Directors. Nick is also nearing the completion of Evidence in Motion's orthopedic residency program. Jennifer W. Gigliotti, PT, DPT, MTC graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is currently working as a physical therapist and site coordinator for Big Stone Therapies, Inc. at a multidisciplinary clinic and rehab center in Hibbing, MN. Dr. Gigliotti is currently undergoing Evidence in Motion's orthopedic residency program. She serves as the Publicity & Social Networking Coordinator, as well as the Student Liaison, for the Global Health Special Interest Group of the APTA, and has a great passion for global health and sustainability efforts for expanding therapy services and education abroad..

Yoga and Physical Therapy		3/7/2015	3/7/2015	2:40 PM	4:40 PM	3/7/2015 2:40 PM - 4:40 PM Yoga and Physical Therapy Speaker: Veronica Soria Miller, DPT Course Description This presentation is designed to enhance your understanding of yoga, how it can be adapted for anyone, and how it can apply to your PT practice. Though the focus is on an inpatient setting, the concepts can be applied to any environment of physical therapy. This two hour session includes a didactic presentation as well as a beginner level yoga class. The yoga class will have basic postures that can be performed on the floor or in a chair. Please dress comfortably. A yoga mat is not necessary for this class, neither is any previous yoga experience - just an open mind and a good sense of humor. Speaker Biography Veronica Soria Miller DPT graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Simmons College in 2009 and credits her yoga practice for being able to stay sane during PT school. Now she draws from yoga teachings daily to stay grounded in her physical therapy practice in a hectic hospital environment. She has been integrating yoga into her work with people in the acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient settings. She completed her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in 2012. In the Fall of 2013, Veronica completed the Integrating Yogic Principles in the Delivery Healthcare workshop and felt an immediate connection with the philosophy of Mind Body Solutions. She has been working with the Adaptive Yoga Program at Courage Kenny – Golden Valley as her own personal workshop to learn techniques that she can bring to her physical therapy practice. Veronica is happy to share her knowledge gained through much self-study and hopes make yoga less of a mysterious practice to others.
